Last May, a professor who gives a lecture that included as graduation requirements made religious remark referring to the “Sewol ferry disaster.” He said that the victims of Sewol ferry disaster died since they are Christian, not Buddhist. After the lecture, Donggukians got to know this issue through Everytime, an application used by Donggukians to share their opinions and make their class schedule, and criticism of the professor intensified. As to this, the school dismissed the professor and assigned other professor. In this process, however, that professor never apologized for his remark. Even, students who took that lecture were violated right to take classes not knowing why professors were replaced. Since school has never stated their position. Regarding this, College Operation Committee of college of Social Science, Education, and Humanities held a press conference in front of the Main Hall. According to them, the school said “It is difficult to express reflection or apology because it will be a gossip outside the school.” So they demanded an apology from the professor, and furthermore spoke of the school’s reflection and apology, referring to the essential solution. Also, they stated that specific measures to prevent recurrence were needed.
