The members of Midongchu are having the press conference in front of the Main Hall.

   On December 5th, at 12:00 P.M., “The Press Conference of Dongguk University Students” was held by Midongchu (Dongguk Promotion Committee for the Future) in front of the Main Hall. Four people, including the members of Midongchu and the member of General Student Council (GSC) of graduates, participated in the conference. They denounced the matter of the fabrication of an agenda by the General Student Council (GSC) and claimed  that the Office of Student Affairs should be disbanded.

   On December 4th, the controversy of the fabrication of the agenda has been revealed by Kim Tae-hyeon, the former member of the GSC of graduates through a poster and truth about Midongchu’s purpose has been distorted. He asserted on the poster that the Office of Student Affairs needs to be dismantled since it kept inciting to split the students. An Dre (Senior, Political Science and Diplomacy Major), the  member of Midongchu, said, “We, the members of Midongchu, held the press conference in order to keep democratization of  the university. Keeping the democratization of the university is our primary purpose. Dongguk University must be a place for students.” Then, four people from Midongchu made their speeches.

   As starting the press conference, Kim Ye-jin (Junior, The Department of Advertising and Public Relations), the member of Midongchu, said, “The Office of Student Affairs oppressed the students who have their opinions against those of university.” Moreover, Kim Geon-jung, the former vice chairperson of the GSC, and Park Kyoung-gun (Senior, Political Science and Diplomacy Major) also participated in the press conference and indicated their positions regarding the matter. At last, Kim Tae-hyeon, the former member of the GSC for graduates, showed his stance saying, “The Office of Student Affairs kept intervening the matters of graduates and dividing the society of the students. Even though this department is made for students, it does not respect individual’s opinion.” Likewise, all of the speakers pointed out that even though the Office of Student Affairs is organized to support the students, it does not function as it should be.

   Finally, by closing the press conference, the members of Midongchu declared their proclamation. They announced that they will keep their eyes on the issue and try to keep the democratization of the university until the faculty take proper measure.
