On July 29th, the General Student Council (GSC) made a written apology regarding the stopped General Student Representatives’ Meeting (GSRM), followed up with an apology from the Student Council of the College of Social Science for the discontinued Whole Student Representatives’ Meeting of its own college.
The GSRM, as well as the meetings of each colleges, is a conference that is supposed to be held regularly each semester to deal with various matters concerning students. However, for the past half year, the GSC has not held any meetings of the general student representatives, and the students of Dongguk University have been constantly raising objections to it. Regarding this situation, Kim Jeong-min, the chairperson of the GSC, said, “Since the new GSC was elected as a result of the by-election, it had an overdue commencement. Therefore, the GSC was not able to have enough time to preside over the GSRM.”
After having a conference hosted by the committee of the general student management, the very first GSRM of this year was decided to be held on September 4th. The GSC mentioned that it might be an impractical plan to proceed to have the meeting during the summer vacation. Therefore, the participants of the conference resolved to put it off until the beginning of the next semester.
However, the Student Council of the College of the Social Science had its own representatives’ meeting on August 24th. On the meeting, they reported on various undertakings that the Student Council had done until summer vacation for the College of the Social Science and discussed about issues surrounding the president of Dongguk University.
