On April 14th, the 48th climbing ceremony was held in Bukhan Mountain to commemorate the 4.19 Revolution. Although weather forecast predicted a rainfall from 12:00 P.M., the ceremony was conducted as planned. President Han Tae-sik (Bogwang) opened the beginning of the ceremony, saying “We should remember the students who made sacrifices for democracy.” After the speech, students and faculties started climbing from 10:40 A.M.
During the climbing ceremony, the preparation was pointed out to be unsatisfying because the weather condition became worse before noon. The weather brought the gust of wind and rain, which incurred slippery trail, making safety concerns. “Climbing event was an opportunity to promote the friendship as usual. However, I think it needed more preparation for the rain. Furthermore, as Bukhan Mountain has a steep mountain path, it was considerably more dangerous to climb the slippery trail,” said Yoon Gyeong-hoon, the vice chairperson of the Student Council of the Department of Korean Education.
