   On March 28th in front of the Main Hall, the GSC held a press conference regarding the issue of Dongguk University’s public inquiry and aggressive actions regarding filing a suit against students for they have uploaded degrading images of the intervention of Jogye Order on Facebook.

   On March 22nd, the university called Jo Seong-woo, the vice chairperson of GSC, and Park Mun-su, the chairperson of general representative council to the Main Building with late notice and held a sudden press conference regarding the legitimacy of the GSC and 9.17 General Students’ Meeting. The GSC claimed that the press conference had the intention of oppressing students who are bringing up a problem to the President. The GSC also claimed that the inquiry was an illegal intervention because contents of the inquiry is not a part that the school can intervene but school community’s autonomous privilege.

   Lee Jae-min (senior, the chairperson of the College of Social Science) said, “I cannot understand with which qualification and authority the school is interpreting and judging our GSC and its rule. Denying students’ self-government means not that the school is violating students’ right and is trying to regulate them.”

   On March 23rd, President Han Tae-sik (Bogwang) accused the chairperson of the GSC of Seoul campus, An Dre; the chairperson of the GSC of Gyeongju campus, Kang Su-hyeon; the chairperson of the Student Council of the Graduate School, Shin Jung-wook; the head of member of the executive committee of “Dongguk Promotion Committee for the Future,” Jo Yoon-ki for spreading false information and defamation of the school. They have uploaded the post containing an imaginary conversation betweent sunims who attended the so-called “Koreana Hotel Assemblage” in 2014 to explain how the present conflicts between the president and Donggukians evolved.  The GSC claimed that the accusation was filed without giving a single try to communicate with students.

   Huh Woo-jin, a student of the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, mentioned, “I’m ashamed to be on this site, but the school does not seem to be ashamed. They do not understand the situation properly and think that we are weak, so please pay attention and join us.”

   In the end of these two press conferences, An Dre, the chairperson of the GSC, and Shin Jung-wook, the chairperson of the Student Council of the Graduate School shaved their head, shouting slogans.

   After the press conference, there was a physical conflict between the students and the faculty as the students blocked the way of the car in which President Han is staying. The confrontation lasted for more than an hour with approximately 100 students assembled surrounding the car. The students demanded President Han to get off the car and have a talk with the students, but he did not come out. Instead, they made a phone call and got his answer to appoint a meeting the day after, which is March 29th.
