EAS (English for Academic Success) Presentation Competition is going to be held for the first time. It is intended to promote students’ presentation skills as well as to enhance confidence in speaking English. Freshmen who are currently taking the EAS1 course can participate in this competition. Three or four students enrolling in the same EAS1 course can make one team. The competition will be divided into two sections according to the subject on which the students will make a presentation. Students in Section A will present about life in 2050, while the theme of students in Section B will be about the interesting aspects of Korean culture. Students can apply for the competition starting from June 9th. The application requires sending an application form and a film file of the presentation through e-mail. During the summer vacation, there will be a prejudging. Seven teams in each level are going to be selected. For those who make it through the first round, the final competition will be held on September 13th. Professors will evaluate the presentations and decide on three teams in each level who will be awarded prize money. The head of Dharma College, Kim Young-hun, said that he hopes many students would come over with their fear of speaking English.
