Enthusiasm and Craziness on a November Night

The autumn festival was held over three days, from November 5th to 7th. This festival, called was prepared by the Student Council, club unions and a festival club called ‘Hola.’ During the festival, many booths lined up along the road. There were many different kinds of foods for sale, such as takoyaki and skewered chicken, and many students enjoyed them.

On the first day, November 5th, the club members held publicity activities, especially music-related ones, so that they could attract many members. In the Social Science hall, a flee market was held by a club called “Awesome People, the first fashion-related club in Dongguk University. The items were mostly clothes and accessories. It included both hand-made and used items. Students could buy them at cheaper prices than public market.

On the second day, a stage show, named “Friends Party”, prepared by the Club Union and “Hola” was held. It consisted of two parts. The first part of the program was set up by the Club Union. They came up on the stage and performed what they practiced. The stage performance by the rock-band club “Fearless Dawn” received praises by many students. The second part of the show was a guest stage. Rhythm Power, a hip-hop trio, began the program with a powerful performance.

Next, Kim Jin-ho, a member of SG Wannabe, one of the most popular Korean ballad groups, sang several songs. He impressed many students with his sweet, yet strong voice. The atmosphere was quickly reversed by Swings, a hip-hop singer, who thrilled many students. Oh Dae-san, a freshman majoring in Economics, said, “I could enjoy different genre at the same time.”

On the last day, November 7th, the “Mokmyeok Singing Contest” was held. This contest was hosted by the Student Council, and they held auditions to select the finalists on October 31th and November 1st in Haklim Hall. Students could participate in the audition as a team or solo. In total, 40 teams participated, and seven teams were selected as finalists. After the performance by the finalists, Dynamic Duo, a Korean hip-hop duo, came upon the stage, making the crowd excited and crazy.

This fall’s festival seemed to meet the students’ satisfaction. Oh Dae-san, a freshman majoring in Economics, said, although the weather was cold and there was no heater, it was good. All stress was relieved through this” and added that he is looking forward to the next year’s festival.
