From October 5th to the 13th, the staff from the International Programs & Education office of Dongguk visited the United States to make new agreements and to sign contracts with three universities.
On October 5th they went to the University of Texas in Dallas. A meeting was held there with about ten students who are presently studying at UTD as exchange students and seven UTD students who studied at Dongguk last semester. The Dongguk staff learned that the UTD students were fairly satisfied with the programs of Dongguk and UTD wanted to continue a relationship with Dongguk. Also, both schools promised to mutually remit the tuition fees of the students.
The following day both the University of New Mexico and Dongguk agreed to implement an exchange program from the second semester of 2011. One of the articles that they agreed upon is that if students participate in English Literature classes in UNM the first semester, UNM will exempt the tuition fees of those students. The meeting took place at 12 PM and many senior officials confirmed the agreement.
During the trip, DU also signed a contract with the University of Missouri, Kansas City on the 8th. The exchange program with the school will start the second semester of 2011. Lastly, on October 13th Dongguk signed an agreement with the University of Sao Paulo. USP will start their exchange program with our school from the second semester of 2011. USP is the top university in South America and the school ranks between 150 and 200 in the world.
