The ideal of success is as varied as people's lives. Some think it is to earn lots of money, or to be famous, while others think success is found in a harmonious family. However, regretfully, the road of attaining to the success among university students is the same. Everyone is preparing for state examinations or studying English or learn about the computers. It seems that university students are concentrating on those three things and are determined themselves not to drop behind in this competitive society. It is so pitiful to see them trying to keep step with ever greater social demands while success has become more and more difficult.
What is true success? Though everybody dreams of successful future, it is not ease to visualize their success. Thus, students look for a vision of success in books, documentary programs, their friends?examples and so on. We can easily find students to poster some key sentences for success in the wall.
However, the standard of success is still money or social position. Our competitive society뭩 motto is 뱈ove up the ladder of success than other people.?People are given a choice of 밻ither competitive power or death.?People are inspired by promises like 밳ou can find money if....?and 밚ook for money..... The religion is, 밠uch money is good.?If one has high social position, it is better. If someone has both, it is best.?
Universities also have changed to keep step with the social standard of success. Especially, after the IMF turmoil, they have more focused on state examinations, English and computers.
It is often said that people with imagination and nomadic minds will succeed in the 21 century. If Walt Disney didn뭪 have a literary and humanistic imagination, he would never have created his cut mouse and everything that followed. Humanistic knowledge from literature, philosophy, psychology and religion is needed to treat those who feel stress and alienated feeling from the 21st century.
Without the mental development of human beings, only respect of outward virtue can뭪 win desolative and alienation feeling. Let뭩 first think over what is needed to realize your long-cherished dream. And, naturally, a university should be in charge of this mission that brings up a person who doesn뭪 lose one뭩 mental balance and identity in the 21st nomadic world.
