Ten students from Sapporo Gakuin University (SGU) have visited Dongguk University (DU) from Sept. 9 to 16 under a reciprocal cultural exchange program. This program is part of the exchange agreement started between DU and SGU in July 2000. Every year, DU students visit SGU in July, and SGU students visit DU in September.
During their visit, they participate in some DU classes and learn Korean from their partners. They also experience Korean cultures through sightseeing around Seoul and home stay with their Korean partners.
Isoda Atsushi, SGU representative student, said, "It is a surprise to see a Buddhist temple on campus, because it is not a common thing in Japan." "This program was very helpful to understand about Korean culture. But the Korean language program was not as systematic as I expected," he added.
DU plans to continue this program with our sister University.
