In the winter of 2022, the Beijing Winter Olympics were held successfully. While everyone was enjoying the festival, an assault on chinese student happened on the subway, and this is not just a happening. The suspect was none other than a Korean youth, and the reason was the controversy at the Olympics. During the Olympics, Chinese students often posted articles on the Chinese community in Korea that they were discriminated against in Korea. Also, by the time this storm was almost buried, video comments from a Russian YouTuber began to be plastered with malicious comments. This YouTuber has been self-contained for two months even though he has done nothing wrong. In a very short period, anger shifted from Chinese students to Russian students. Likewise, videos of Korean influencers operating in China were full of malicious comments.

   Did they really make such a big mistake that they received and endured malicious comments and assaults? Discrimination against international students due to the Russian war and the Olympic controversy is not their fault, but the state’s responsibility. However, the responsibility lies with the international students. Then why did some people express their anger toward Innocent citizens? Perhaps this is a distorted sense of “justice” that wants to protect one’s own people. These people became emotionally inclined and certainly lost their objectivity. Since there is no one to express anger against the state, the individual and the state are regarded as a group and committed this kind of discrimination.

   Currently, many international students from different countries are still complaining about racism. An implementation of “justice” can destroy an individual. Individuals cannot represent the state. It is a clear fact that everyone knows that a student studying abroad would not have interfered with the decision of the state. I sincerely hope that international student groups who are studying hard abroad would be regarded with warm eyes.
