Every Dongguk University student dreams of making a meaningful college life for a successful start of their career. To help students set their own specific goals and achieve them, Dongguk University provides various extracurricular programs through Dream PATH. However, there has been some feedback from students that as there are so many different programs, it would be better if they could check the programs that fit their goals at one glance. Considering these feedbacks, Dream PATH has launched a new service called “Career Roadmap.”
You can make your own roadmap by entering the Dream PATH website and clicking the Mypage button on top. Dream PATH has set three big classifications of goals; to join a company, enter a public institution, and establish your own business. As you select each goal, a suitable program track recommendation is given, and at the bottom, there is a space where you can design your career roadmap. The road map is divided into four sections which means four years of college life. You can add the program category you think is needed in achieving your goal by just simply clicking and dragging it to your roadmap. After designing your own road map and registering it, your career roadmap is complete. Career Roadmap is like a navigator guiding us to reach our goal without getting lost during our journey. By visualizing our goal and what we should do to achieve it, we can effectively set out a strategy for success.
When the program which belongs to the category you choose is open, it will be posted on your career roadmap. You can easily recognize it, check if the program is suitable for you, and apply within the application period. If you have any questions about the program, you can easily ask them to the department in charge as their phone number is posted on the application page. After successfully finishing the program you applied for, there will be a completion button on your roadmap. After clicking the completion button, it will be recorded on your roadmap to remind you that you have participated in such programs.
Besides the programs that Dongguk University provides, you can also post the activities you did out of college such as foreign language test scores, certification acquisition, or contest awards. You can register those at the private activity section of the competency development page. By keeping the record of each small activity you participated in, you can utilize it in writing your portfolio or cover letter in the employment preparation period. Also, you can use it to get Dream PATH mileage and get scholarship benefits.
You can also check many other services that Dream PATH provides. You can get each service’s guidelines by clicking the user manual button at the top right side of the website. Professor Shim Tae-eun of Competency Development Center said, “You can find various useful information for your successful college life at Dream PATH. Students who use the service consistently participate in various programs and use them well. Unfortunately, however, many students still do not even know such a service exists. Competency Development Center hopes many students make good use of the helpful services we provide and grow up as a contributing member of society.”
