   Child abuse is largely divided into physical abuse, mental abuse, sexual abuse, and abandonment. However, although the perception that the first three types are child abuse is strong, the perception that abandonment is also abuse is still insufficient. The Dongguk Post would like to recommend the movie “Nobody Knows” in the hope of raising awareness that abandonment is a serious child abuse.

   Nobody Knows is a movie based on the Sugamo child abandonment case, which happened in Tokyo, Japan, in 1988. The mother committed typical neglect and abandonment by running away from home for years and just paying children’s living expenses sometimes, making children to live in the house on their own. Director Kore-eda Hirokazu refined this terrible incident a little bit than it actually was. However, that does not make the feeling of pity for the children decrease. Rather, this movie makes the audience feel horrible, as the innocence of the children, which is captured with the director’s own warm gaze, contrasts with the worsening situation.

   Although Nobody Knows is not a movie that you can watch comfortably, the Dongguk Post think it serves effectively in promoting the perception that abandonment is also a horrible child abuse. In the current society where child abuse frequently occurs, we hope you watch Nobody Knows and think deeply about the dangers of child abuse, and how terrible abandonment is.

   There are many ways to look into Korea’s past history. Among them, the Dongguk Post think that drama is definitely a genre that allows you to empathize with the times and feel the message delivered by the work. There is “Mr. Sunshine,” a drama about a boy who boarded a warship and fell into the United States (US) in 1871 returning to his homeland, Joseon, where he abandoned himself as an American soldier. The Dongguk Post recommends this drama for those who want to re-examine Korea’s history through their lives and emotions. Although it shows the most difficult history of Joseon Dynasty in the Japanese colonial era, it also shows the efforts of individual people who have worked hard to regain and protect the country, and brings numerous life emotions such as patriotism, love, sadness, happiness, and passion.

   This work unfolds the story with five people as the main characters, who have different nationalities, forms of birthplace, and identities. Each of them has lived different lives, but in front of the purpose of “independence,” they all wanted and headed in the same direction. In addition, although the beginning was different to protect the country, the appearance of those moving toward the same goal was touching.

   If you want to approach Korean history with a little more fun and remind us that there have been many efforts for us to live a happy life now, the Dongguk Post recommend watching this drama.

   Have you ever played an escape room game? To play this game, you get to be locked in a room with a certain theme like a prison cell. By solving hidden puzzles and finally getting the password for the exit, you can escape from the room. However, due to COVID-19, it is reluctant to visit escape room places as the game is played in a little room where infected person might have visited. To relieve your sadness of not being able to enjoy escape room games, the Dongguk Post recommend an entertainment show, “Great Escape.”

  Being blindfolded, players are moved to an unknown place without having any information about that place. By searching around and getting clues, they get to know about where they are and try to find a way out.

   The key factors that make the viewers get immersed in the show are the huge scale, various concepts, and reality. Players are overwhelmed by the huge scale and get absorbed in the episode due to its reality. In one episode, the players traveled between different time zones by taking a time machine. Changes over time in a same place was shown by detailed changes in the props and it increased the sense of immersion.Some episodes are related to the past ones, and sometimes the experience of past episodes helped in solving puzzles. Also, the six players have different strengths, such as power or cleverness, so watching them cooperate to find a way out is one charming point of this show.

   The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has developed a vaccination certification application “COOV,” which stands for “Covid Overcome.” COOV is a vaccination authentication system operated based on a public blockchain. Personal information such as name, date of birth, nationality, passport number, and photo must be provided according to selection.

   This application is linked to data from the KDCA, so you can check your vaccination records and get a certificate by simply authenticating yourself through your mobile phone number. If you press the issued certificate card, you can submit the certificate through the QR code. The QR code of the other party can be recognized through the “Authenticate the other party” button, and the type of vaccine, lot number, inoculator, and country of inoculation can be checked.

   You can download this application before getting vaccinated and fill out an online preliminary table on the same day. Checking and reporting your health status through the application is also available. One᾽s health status and adverse reactions can be reported to the KDCA.

   The story of this webtoon begins when the main character, who is a job seeker, falls into a coma due to an unexpected accident. The main character gets a job as the member of the crisis management team of the afterlife until he wakes up from a coma and works with the Grim Reapers. The crisis management team means “the Grim Reaper team that prevents suicide.” The Grim Reapers listen to the stories of people who are bruised in mind and contemplate suicide, solve the problems, and prevent suicide. The stories of various people that the Grim Reapers meet are very common stories in our lives. In addition, this webtoon tells the stories of people who are suffering from bullying and malicious comments, as well as people who are suppressing their pain alone, such as the sorrow of losing a child or longing for a companion animal. The warm lines and comfort of the characters who leave a deep impression on the readers are also attraction in this webtoon. If you’re going through a really hard time right now and want to hear someone’s comfort and support, The Dongguk Post recommends this webtoon.
