   The movie “The Mule” is based on the true story of Leo Sharp who will be recorded as the world’s oldest drug hauler. Since hero movies and movies that contain many other commercial elements are being released recently, this movie is more special. This movie revolves around the old man who abandoned his family since the youth. Throughout the story, he makes us reconsider the way we live our life. The main character, Earl, loved flowers so much when he was young. He could not stay with his family because he was crazy about flowers and was busy holding various flower fairs. In other words, he was the person who prioritizes his job over family. Since he felt guilty to his family, he happens to join the process of drug haul to make money for his granddaughter in his old age. This situation brings Earl a lot of money and leads to a decent life. But when he looks around, he realizes that no one is left by his side and feels lonely. Considering all of this, the movie is about the truth of life that the main character finally realizes the importance of his family before he ends his life. Also, the actor of the main character is Clinton Eastwood, who is 90 years old legendary actor and about the same age as the real drug hauler Leo Sharp. This fact makes us focus more on the movie. So, I recommend the movie “Last Mission,” which tells us about life and makes us think about our lives.

   If you are having a poor appetite nowadays, I want to introduce you my favorite “Muktoon (a webtoon about food)” to stimulate your appetite. The title of it is Omeu Rice Jam Jam. In this webtoon, the theme of every episode is about particular food. The writer introduces his individual stories related to the food. He is so passionate about food that he travels abroad to study it. I get to realize how hard he studied the food when reading the webtoon. Most of all, he has an excellent skill in drawing the food as if seeing an actual one. When reading his explanation of the food, every food he explains looks appealing even if I do not actually enjoy it.

   My favorite episode (actually, most of the episodes are my favorite) is the episode 22, “I want to eat seasoned chicken!” The drawing of chickens is so realistic that I feel hungry whenever I read this. Since there are more than two hundred episodes until now, I feel like I am reading the menu, not webtoon.
Besides the story of food itself, the writer’s view of relationship is interesting. He enjoys hanging out with various people regardless of how many times they met. I think this attitude makes the story of webtoon more unique. You have to pay for reading most of the episodes, but it is worth it! You will love it.

THE HUNGER GAMES / Lee Seon-yeong

   The series of this book was made into a movie and has been a huge success in the world. It is generally about a girl who participated in the survival game and became the symbol of hope and fighting against the unjust authority.

   This story takes place in the ruins at a nation of Panem, where a shining capitol is surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The wealthy and cruel capitol tries to control these districts to maintain their power. They force to send a boy and a girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen, to participate in the annual hunger game which is a fight to the death. It is is broadcasted on live to the public. The main character Katniss Everdeen participates the hunger game, instead of her younger sister. As the game proceeds, she realizes that she is becoming more of a symbol of rebellion to the capitol, also known as Mocking Jay.

   I personally liked Katniss, who is not afraid of speaking what is on her mind. I believe we need more stronger, independent female characters like her who is able to stand up for oneself. Such character could be a role model for young girls as they display strength to fight for what they believe to be right. I strongly recommend this book if you are tired of a traditional gender role story.

Drama
Romance is a bonus book / Seo Yoo-jeong

   I have never seen a drama which has a warm atmosphere like this. The drama talks about love among characters who work in the same publishing company called “Gyeoroo.” For most of dramas, there are antagonists that viewers hate. However, this drama has no antagonists at all. All the characters have both merits and faults. For example, my favorite character “Song Hae-rin” had a crush on the main character “Cha Eun-ho.” Sadly, he liked another main character “Kang Dan-yee.” However, she never interrupted them and just made up her mind when she knew the relationship between them. I had seen so many dramas with jealousy and revenge around love, so I was relaxed while watching this drama. 

   The plot of “Romance is a bonus book” is unusual, too. As characters work in the same publishing company, there are many interesting stories of publishing a book. In one episode, staffs of “Gyeoroo” received a notice of canceling the contract from an author whom they worked with over a year. To convince the author, they stayed up all night in front of his house. It could be quite exaggerated, but even so, I did not know it would take that much effort to publish one book. Also, there was something in common between my work in The Dongguk Post and their work in the publishing company. Therefore, I could have easily understood their hardships. Although this drama ended a month ago, I still replay a few episodes when I get stressed. 

Musical
THE LION KING / Kim Ji-min

   “It’s the circle of liiiiiiiife, and it moves us alll~” As soon as we hear this song, I am pretty sure we all can relate to the Lion King. This song became my favorite ever since I watched the musical version of the Lion King.

   During our childhood, a lot of people may have watched the animation movie, Lion King. For those who cannot recall the plot of the Lion King, here is a quick summary. It is an adventure of the young lion Simba and the King Mufasa. Simba’s uncle, Scar comes up with a lot of schemes and tries to take over the throne. He has two faces for Simba. One day, Scar lures the innocent baby lion, Simba. Then, Scar puts Simba in danger. While King Mufasa tries to rescue Simba, King Mufasa faces death. Indeed, most of us would have shed a drop of tears when Simba was about to die. With such tragic incident, Simba leaves the Pride Land and Scar takes over the throne. Later on, with the help of Simba’s friends, Timon and Pumbaa, Simba manages to come back to the Pride Land and rule the land.

   The only word that can describe the musical is “thrilled.” The musical version of the Lion King is interesting in that humans actually wear props to act how animals in the Pride Land. Even though we all know the plot, the musical maximizes the feelings with various sound effect, singing skills, and realistic portrayal.
