Does Our Country Really Have Insufficient Resources?

Even as you are reading this article, a lot of your schoolmates are throwing away recyclable garbage without dividing it properly in the separate collection wastebaskets on campus.
Kim Su-young (Junior, Dept. of Accounting) said, "If someone throws recyclable garbage into an incorrect wastebasket, separate collection can't continue properly from that moment."
A staff member of General Affairs said that seven cleaners sort garbage from the wastebaskets into several types, including cans, bottles, papers, plastics, general wastes, over and over for 2 to 3 hours everyday. It is just a waste of labor and time.
According to an article in the Dong-A Ilbo, New York City will not collect recyclable cans and bottles separately, except papers, as of Feb. 7, because it has become expensive due to the fact that about 40 percent of cans and bottles has been thrown out with general waste rather than recyclable waste.
"If most Donggukins dispose of recyclable garbage separately, the cost for recycling can be saved. I hope that Donggukians will take the lead in recycling by dividing recyclable garbage properly," he said.
