The 2018 Danawa Academy Festival was held on March 22nd from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Paljeongdo. It was held by Danawa, an online shopping mall where people can compare the prices of different products, in the purpose of advertising products related to gaming computer. The General Student Council (GSC) guided Danawa where to park or install the booths and helped the preparation for the festival. The festival had 14 booths ran by 16 companies that work with Danawa including LG electronics, Sony, and Xiaomi. Each booth handed out prizes if the students participate in games or events which they provide and sold some of their products such as mechanical keyboard, supplementary battery, and graphic card cheaper than the market price.
Moreover, when a Donggukian visited a booth, it gave a stamp to him or her. With the two stamps collected, the student could choose between an ecobag and a notebook, and when the Donggukian got all 14 stamps, the student could get a meal ticket for Sangnokwon as a prize. At 4:00 P.M., electronics such as laptop, Bluetooth speaker, and USB were randomly given to students who participated in the festival. “Since there are a lot of students who are interested in online games, I think this is a great opportunity for Dongguk University students to experience and buy products related to it”, said Baek Song-hak, a Manager of Danawa Academy Festival.
Some students showed interest in playing games and watching different products with their friends inside the campus. You Byung-gyu (Sophomore, Department of Buddhist Studies) mentioned, “It was exciting to look at all those computers and keyboards. It was good to know companies that manufacture graphic-cards, too.” The Chairperson of the GSC also mentioned, “We hope to make Dongguk University a school where students want to go, and I believe Danawa Academy festival helped to achieve our goal. We will keep working hard to open more big events in the campus.”
