   On April 27th, at 12:30 P.M., the General Student Council (GSC) hosted “University Students’ Declaration” ahead of the 19th Presidential Election in Paljeongdo and participated in the university students’ network. The declaration was projected by the National University Student Network and thirty Student Councils in Korea. The declaration was to tell what students want for the candidates of the 19th presidential election and that they would choose a candidate who listens to students’ voices.

   The first speaker of the declaration, Kim Jeong-hee (Freshman, Department of Korean Language Education) announced that students should continue to pay attention to politics and urged students to vote. Also, she criticized that philosophy and politics are not required subjects in high school by saying, “The young generation is not interested in politics because of the wrong education of school. I hope many students should be interested in politics.”

   The steering committee in the GSC and participants recited the declaration. They argued that the presidential candidates are not listening to university students’ voices. They said, “Candidates should resolve the problem university students are coping with such as expensive tuition and undemocratic university operations.”

   After the declaration, the participants showed a performance smashing pine boards in the sense of defeating the social problems such as high tuition fee, reginal imbalance, and education problems.
