On March 16th, the first joint open hearing of candidate parties for Student Council of the College of Social Science was held. Four candidates of two parties (Jang Su-jeong and Park Koung-gun of V-APPLE, Han Chae-hoon and Kwak Jae-sin of COUNTER PUNCH) participated in the public hearing and announced their stances on the issues regarding the intervention of Jogye order, the education policies by the government(PRIME, CORE, and Life-long education), and the welfare on campus.

In respect with the intervention of Jogye order, V-APPLE party declared their position saying that it is important to bring up the question about the issue. COUNTER PUNCH also emphasized the necessity to suggest a new direction of solving the problem in the long run.
Both of parties pointed out the defects of Life-long education policy which recruited freshmen from this semester in Dongguk. Jang Su-jeong from V-APPLE said, “Life-long education was conducted with a lot of flaws such as the lack of curricula and professors.” Especially, Han Chae-hoon of COUNTER PUNCH gave a criticism regarding the way Hashtag party (the former General Student Council) deal with the problem.
Lastly, they announced their plan of supporting the students’ welfare on campus. Jang Su-jeong of V-APPLE said, “The right for learning of students should be guaranteed. Therefore, we will try our best to improve the situation of computer labs, AJ Network, and the study hall of Neungeum.” COUNTER PUNCH party also placed stress on the protection of the student’s welfare on campus. Kwak Jae-sin of COUNTER PUNCH said, “The students’ welfare should be treated as the first priority. Our party’s policy consists of lists providing students with convenience.”
The next open hearing is scheduled on March 22nd at 6:00 P.M., in Deokam Seminar room. Each party’s preliminary policies will be covered in the next open hearing in detail.
