On February 1st, the sixth Tuition Fee Review Commission was held at 4:30 P.M. It was decided that tuition fee for undergraduates including newly and previously enrolled students would be frozen while that of international students’ would increase.
Before the Tuition Fee Review Commission took place, student representatives from 55 different student councils announced that tuition fee of the freshmen should be frozen. They said that students would be influenced by the decrease of national scholarship II and it is not appropriate to reduce admission fee which is collected only once while increasing tuition fee for eight semesters.
Finally at the sixth review commission, it was decided that tuition fee of whole domestic students in undergraduate departments would be set at the same level as the year before. In addition, tuition fee would rise 1.5 percent for the graduate school students and three percent for the international students.
Park Jin-woo, the chairperson of the Emergency Planning Committee, commented, “I feel sorry to see the how the international students’ tuition fee rose. From now on, I will do my best to obtain budget for student welfare.”
