The Fifth Tuition Fee Review Commission Held

On January 26th, the fifth Tuition Fee Review Commission was held at 9:30 A.M. At the same time, opposition between the school and student representatives over the increasing tuition fee continued. Due to the foundered election of the General Student Council, the Emergency Planning Committee consisted of General Representative Council is dealing with the task.

Regarding the student representatives' request to freeze the tuition fee from the previous commision, the school suggested to decrease the admission fee of the newly enrolled students this year and increase their tuition fee, instead of freezing the tuition fee of the currently enrolled students. However, the student representatives rejected the suggestion because students would receive less profit from national scholarship II. Also, while the decrease of admission fee affects only a year, the increase of tuition fee influences eight semesters which accounts for four years.

Park Jin-woo, the chairperson of General Representative Council, said, “We clearly insisted that the tuition fees of both freshmen and currently enrolled students must be frozen. I am also willing to take actions such as holding press conferences and picketings.”

Meanwhile, the sixth Tuition Fee Review Commission will be conducted on February 1st, at 4:30 P.M.
