Sharing Love
The current economic crisis in Korea has increased  unemployment among the young. Competition for jobs among college students is fierce. This has caused selfish individualism to increase and discouraged college students from doing social work. But there are people who share their love with their neighbours. They are volunteers in Dolsan study room. In the study room, 30 to 40 children are receiving special educations from them.
Lee yoon-ah, a DU junior, has been serving since last year. Every Wednesday, after classes, she goes to the study room. "If I regarded this job as community service, I would quit. I just think this is my duty," said Lee with a humble smile. After a music class, children crowd around her and show cute tricks they've learned. Seeing the children, I know why she takes pride in this work.
Spending time to develop one's ability is important, but sharing one's time with needy children is also important. Through meeting Lee yoon-ah and her friends, I learned that being too busy to do social work can is a poor excuse.
