On September, International Seon Center opens the “Seon Trainee Course” for the first time. The purpose of the program is to educate trainees who have both theory and meditation practice skills of Seon by observing their own mind and learning how to control themselves.
The course is made up of three semesters, which will begin on September, 2016, January, and May, 2017. It is divided into two classes: one will be on Thursdays at 2:00 P.M., another will be on Saturdays at 9:00 A.M. Each class is going to accept about 20 people. In the first semester, people can take basic lessons such as “History of Seon” and “Comparative Buddhist Practice.” In the second semester, there are advanced classes like “Patriarch Writings,” “Seon and Scriptures,” “Seon and Psychology,” and “Seon and Healing.” In the third semester, there is “Word Contemplation Meditation Intensive Practice” that people can practice meditation by themselves. Professional lecturers whose majors are related to Seon will teach in these lectures.
Kim Young-soo, a program manager of International Seon Center, said, “The ‘Seon Trainee Course’ will help people learn about Buddha’s enlightenment as they manage their mind and make their lives stable.”
