Lee Jae-min, the chairperson of the “Sagwa-Namu,” the 29th student council of the College of Social Science, was expelled from school on August 31st. The reason of Lee’s dismissal was that he received his third and final academic probation last semester.
Due to the expulsion, Lee stood down as the chairperson before finishing his term. Kang Jong-chan, the vice chairperson of the “Sagwa-Namu,” needs to fill its vacancy. In this regard, Vice Chairperson Kang stated his opinion by saying, “I was a little embarrassed at first, but I soon realized that the student council is operated not just by the leader but by every member of the council. Therefore, I promise to recover the students’ trust.”
Meanwhile, Lee posted an apology letter to the students on SNS on August 12th. He also announced that he will consistently work for the student council to honor his election pledges. Lee and the “Sagwa-Namu” concluded to never let the promises meet a setback and assured that the “Neunggeum Festival” and the current student welfare service will continue.
One student majoring in Public Administration, wishing to stay anonymous commented, “Many students, including myself, were very disappointed to hear the news. Lee’s irresponsibility left a doubt whether the pledges he had made will be fulfilled or not.”
