The GSC inquired of answers to several questions. The standard of due date in plagiarism was the main issue during the conference. This is because the school declared that the date of thesis examination for plagiarism had expired since it was written more than five years ago. An Dre, the chairperson of the GSC, said, “We plan to leave for Japan and to visit Bukkyo University directly to require a convinced standard of due date in plagiarism.”
In the next following hour, the school held a press conference in the Lotus Hall. Vice President Yang Young-jin hosted the conference to answer the questions from the previous conference. After reading the answers, he showed one document as an evidence. The document was the response from Bukkyo University where on March 24th 2015, the school requested to verify if the president had plagiarized a paper of Etani Ryukai, the former president of Bukkyo University, for his doctoral thesis. However, the university replied that since the doctoral thesis was written over five years ago, it cannot be investigated.
During the conference, held by Vice President Yang, there was a vehement question and answer session. He stated, “It is possible to use the words that were originally included in other papers for the sake of academic explanation regarding a doctoral thesis.” Professor Han Man-soo replied, “Whoever reads the president’s paper can judge that it is plagiarized. This means that making a judgment on plagiarism is not related to professionalism, but to logicality.”
