On March 16th at Paljeongdo, Wednesday demonstration for comfort women was held by Donggukians who support Foundation of Justice and Memory.
A protest for comfort women is held on every Wednesday in front of Embassy of Japan in Korea. Although many university students pay attention to an issue about comfort women, they have some difficulties participating in the protest on Wednesday due to their classes. Therefore, in order to make students join in the protest easily, 33 universities including Dongguk University held Wednesday demonstration on their campus at the same time.
Jang Yu-jin (Sophomore, Korean Education) is a representative person who planned the demonstration. She said, “In order to encourage many students to recognize the issue related to comfort women and make them take some actions, I tried to plan the demonstration at Dongguk University with Foundation of Justice and Memory.”
The president of the GSC, An Dre mentioned, “Holding the yellow butterfly pickets means that we do not forget the tragic and painful history. Also, it does not let the history repeat itself by enabling many people to remember continuously it.”
