At 2:00 P.M., October 2nd, students of Sociology major organized a press conference in front of the main hall. This was because Sociology major and the joint major of Social Welfare are at stake to integrate.
One of the student’s main points was that combining the two different majors because of low employment rate cannot be justified. Another was that school should not block the development of pure studies, like sociology.
Kim Byung-soo, a vice president of the College of Education, stated, “College of Education might be the next target of the major integration. Stopping the combination of Sociology and the joint major of Social Welfare is necessary to prevent future victims.”
Park Su-eun, a senior majoring in Sociology, said “Law employment rate problem does not apply not only to my major but also to Korea. Government must provide a proper policy to solve it.”
In terms of school, Kim Hyung-bae, a chief of Academic Affairs, mentioned, “Actual progress was not made and we are willing to consider students’ suggestions too.”
