During the school festival, the Gender Equality Center will hold a small campaign, called “Love &—” from May 20th to 22th (11 A.M.~3 P.M.). Since campaign handles love and sexual contents, students active participation is expected. Associated with experts from outside of campus and student volunteers, this campaign will be progressed to prevent sexual harassment and violence by sharing knowledge and consultations.
There will be a total of seven sections in the campaign. For consultation and sharing knowledge, talk, violence, responsibility sections are prepared. On the section Talk, students will get opportunities to have simple psychological tests with love-writers or psycho-counselors. For violence section, Hollaback Korea, an NGO for street harassment, and Sunflower Center, an organization for victims of sexual or domestic violence, will participate. In the section, these two groups will hold O.X quiz, show webtoons, and teach accurate instructions for using condoms. Also, they will make a slogan for sex crime and share cases. On responsibility section, Sunflower Center will give consultation for sexual knowledge or concerns.
Memory and confidence sections are prepared for entertainments. On memory section, students can take pictures in front of photo wall designed by painter Kim Mi-o. On confidence section, judo performers will present self-defense martial art for attraction. Also, for eat and item sections, students can buy some desserts. Dongguk’s consulting and mentoring group U-peers will volunteer for this section.
The counselor of the Gender Equality Center, Shim Hyun-jung said, “Our center provides counseling and assistance regarding sexual harassment and sexual assault related to university members. We hope students not to hesitate to participate in this campaign.”
