The Center for Student Counseling is planning to carry out a test, MLST, Multi-Dimensional Learning Strategy Test, developed by the Guidence, to evaluate self-initiated learning level of all the freshmen. This test is divided into four parts; characteristic, emotion, motivation, and behavior. Since this test is mandatory to freshmen, all the freshmen would understand what their learning behaviors are and the Center would effectively examine where the students stand on through the results. Last year, this test was held on the entrance ceremony and the students had to visit the Center to get their results. This year, however, the result will be on the internet. The Center is still establishing the online system, and so the exact date will be updated in the near future on the Center’s page (counseling.dongguk.edu). After the Center look through the results, students who show vulnerability that might possibly affect their learning ability would be contacted to conduct counseling. Through such process, the Center can assist students to develop self-initiated learning skills directly. Changing to online system from a paper test is expected to bring welcoming from the students because they do not need to visit the Center for the results. Hopefully, it would also encourage high participation so that the Center can introduce and help the students to learn effectively as the original purpose of the test.
