A workshop on using the presentation software program Prezi was held at Munhwa Hall on April 5th, May 10th, and May 31st. Prezi is a storytelling type tool for presentation and the Korean branch of the product was launched last year. Prezi is often compared with PowerPoint. PowerPoint is effective when you have a large amount of information because PowerPoint cuts off information one by one, so you can emphasize it easily. On the other hand, Prezi is beneficial to explain something like stories. Lee Sun-young, a researcher in the Center of Teaching and Learning said, “Prezi is a tool like the program that Steve Jobs used for his presentations. Maybe it is difficult to use Prezi for lectures in universities. However, if you upload your presentation made by Prezi, it can be shared. Therefore it is effective to self-promotion. People have actually found employment simply by using Prezi presentations, and I hope that many students can experience Prezi in person.” She also added, “Next semester, workshops for ‘ALMind’ and ‘Evernote’ are going to follow. Evernote can be used when you collect information, and ALMind is used to organize the information. Evernote, ALMind, and Prezi will be useful for storytelling.”
