The Lotus Lantern Design contest, hosted by College of Arts, has started to organize participants from September 24th. The purpose of this contest is to find creative artistic ways of depicting the Lotus Lantern based on historical storytelling related to the Lantern. Accepted blueprints will be designed and displayed during the first half year of 2013. Installation spots will be picked by the designer, either on the 1st floor of the Main Hall or around the Eight Fold Way. Also, the designer will be awarded a prize of three million won and can give a name to the lantern. The application period for blueprints is until December 31st. The announcement of the result is scheduled to be on January 15th and on that day unselected blueprints will be returned. Qualification for applicants is that he or she should be students of the Dongguk University including grad students, and graduates or employees in service. The design of the lantern should be creative, and show artistic value related to Buddhism. In addition, the design should be in harmony with installation spot, and needs durability to be displayed outdoors.
