On October 3rd and 7th, the Dongguk University Conservatory held the 2nd Musical Competition for students and public at the Main Auditorium of the Seoul Campus. Compared to the last competition, there were many changes. Starting from this year, university students and the public were able to apply for the competition, and for the vocal music section students from the 5th grade could apply. Also some sections were added, including viola and cello from string music section, flute and clarinet from woodwind section, a musical vocal section, and a children's song section. Owing to such changes, a total of 250 applicants, with 60 more applicants than the previous year, came to Dongguk University. The grand prize winners in their fields were awarded certificates of merit in the name of the President of Dongguk University and were given a small amount of money. For other prize winners, they were awarded a certificate of merit. In addition, 12 people among the prize winners were given the chance to perform in a concert in the Main Auditorium on October 12th. Moon Eu-gene, the team leader of the Music Conservatory, said that the Dongguk University Conservatory will continue to strive in making a competition that actually helps students to learn music.
