BK21’s Buddhist Studies in the Global Age invited a great foreign scholar, the ninth Khamtrul Rinpoche. The scholar’s lecture was held at Jeonggakwon on June 2 at 3:30P.M. The theme of the lecture was “Traditions and methods of asceticism of Tibetan Buddhism, Kagyu.”
The ninth Khamtrul Rinpoche is the head of Khampagar monastery in Tashi Jong, Northern India. Since he joined the monastery as Khamtrul Rinpoche in December 1982, he has spent most of his time practicing asceticism.
Also, as a guardian of many recluse ascetics, he has taught oral methods of asceticism to internal and external disciples for many years.
