Students at Dongguk University have started to wear the coolest clothes possible since spring arrived. There are several reasons for trying to look cool. However, I want to combine them with one major reason that I think most students will agree with.
Yes! I want to look like a cool guy who is attractive enough to have a drop-dead gorgeous girlfriend. Many of my friends whom I usually hang out with spend a lot of their time scanning the campus for sexy and voluptuous ladies. One of my friends, whom I will refer to as Song, majoring in international trade, has flawless white skin and is very handsome. In fact, he resembles the famous actor Jang Dong-gun. One of his goals in 2011 is to date the most beautiful girl on campus.
Actually, he has already discovered a perfect candidate in the Bizmaru (the study area in the Management Hall at Dongguk) who meets his criteria, but he has not confessed his love yet. She is so beautiful that many cool guys hover around her on a daily basis, so there is limited access and super hyper competition. He said that he spends about an hour each morning deciding what to wear and fixing his hair with wax in order to attract her attention.
Do all guys who strive to be cool have to do what Song does every morning? I cannot say yes or no because personal appearance is very important in our society these days. What about the ladies on our campus? Many of them who want to look sexy have started wearing very short pants commonly called “Missing Bottom Fashion” while those who want to look pure and innocent can be seen wearing light and bright-colored shirts. It seems as though many of these ladies are also looking for the guy of their dreams.
If I am wrong about this, I will certainly apologize, but I do not have heterophobia. When I go up the stairs, I cannot help but head back down because it is often embarrassing to stare at female students wearing such short pants. As a matter of fact, there are some guys who dislike girls who dress up too sexy and do not seem to be diligent and intellectual students. To them, these female students are in a way violating the purpose of being students at Dongguk, a university known for its high academic standard and Buddhist values.
However, to me, it just seems natural for guys to want to look cool and for ladies to want to look attractive. Some of my friends, especially Song, the cool guy, laugh at my campus fashion. I cannot but agree with them because I do not consider myself to be a cool guy. In fact, I do not even know what to wear in a cool way. Thus, I have not had any female friends in a couple of years, and I have even heard that some ladies abhor my taste in fashion because I often look like a mountain climber.
I never used to care about whatever I wear to school, but I recently bought some hair wax at E-Mart and I use it every morning. It is kind of time-consuming, but I am willing to make the sacrifice in order to look cool and eventually meet a girl that I like.
To my fellow Donggukians, both ladies and gentlemen, I strongly recommend that you try to look cool or attractive. Otherwise, it may be quite difficult to find a suitable spouse in the future. I realize that earning a high GPA and taking our studies seriously are essential in order to find suitable employment upon graduation. However, without a spouse who meets your standards, you may never be completely satisfied. If you are single or just not happy with your present relationship, put on some cool or hot clothes and go find a guy or girl who will bring you happiness. If you already have someone in mind, are you his or her cup of tea? Think about it!
